Also known as Sweet Basil the Essential Oil is steam distilled from the delicate and beautifully aromatic leaves of the Ocimum basilicum plant which grows in the lush Himalayan valleys of Northern India. Basil Oil has a lively, spicy and distinct herbal aroma and is widely used in natural perfumery for its complex fresh green-herbaceous character and rich balsamic notes.
If used in cosmetic skin care preparations Basil oil has effective anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties which may be useful to treat acne and pimples. It can also be used for treating insect bites as a repellent. Basil Oil can also be used as an anti aging agent as it is a rich source of flavonoids and antioxidants.
In Aromatherapy Basil Essential Oil is used as it’s naturally a stimulant. This essential oil is incredibly uplifting while at the same time soothing and calming to the nerves.
